Alongside her original Motown compatriots The Vandellas, superstar Martha Reeves heads to The Globe in Cardiff!!

Initially bringing audiences to their feet at Detroit’s the legendary 20 Grand Nightclub, Martha Reeves was scouted by famed A&R Director William ‘Mickey’ Stevenson, and quickly became an integral player at Motown Records headquarters.

Having backed Marvin Gaye on his first three releases, Martha Reeves and The Vandellas soon emerged with Come and Get These Memories, followed by an enviable string of hits: Heatwave, Quicksand, In My Lonely Room, Nowhere to Run, My Baby Loves Me, Love Makes Me Do Foolish Things,  I’m Ready For Love, Jimmy Mack, and of course the definitive anthem Dancing In The Streets.

After leaving Motown in 1972, Martha continued to expand her musical horizons, establishing herself as a songwriter with few limitations. Rock, jazz, country, gospel, blues and classical were several of the genres she turned her hand to. Her singing companions have included everyone from James Brown to Bruce Springsteen to opera diva Beverly Sills and gospel king Rance Allen.

The last decade has seen her release her Lost and Found collection, which included the rare Smokey Robinson-penned Spellbound and covers of hits by the likes of Aretha Franklin, The Marvelettes and Vikki Carr. Amongst numerous other projects, Martha has also been touring prolifically, making sure nobody forget about the Motor City!
