University offers chance to combine study with performance tennis.

Cardiff Metropolitan University is offering students the opportunity to combine university study and performance tennis. With support from the Tennis Foundation and Tennis Wales, and working closely with its own LTA performance club, Cardiff Met Tennis Academy; the university is aiming to create an exciting, dynamic performance environment. The university programme is led by head coach Chris Lewis, a former top 500 ATP world-ranked player, who has played at Wimbledon and represented Wales in the Commonwealth Games. Sainsbury’s Pontypridd do 500 Miles for Sport Relief!

To celebrate Sport Relief Weekend colleagues at the Pontypridd store have lots of fundraising activities going on. As seen in the picture colleagues started their 500 mile cycle challenge on Wednesday 19th March and will continue the ride until Sunday. A few colleagues also took part in a Taff Trail Walk from Pontypridd to Cardiff Bay and raised a fantastic £109 so far with donations still pouring in from friends and family. Jean-Jacques Burnel (bass) and Dave Greenfield (keyboards) remain as a permanent part of the line-up, but because of health reasons original drummer Jet Black is now an occasional performer-and, sadly the influential Hugh Cornwell has been absent since 1990. Guitarist Baz Warne (a member since 2000) and Burnel now share the main vocal duties with Greenfield chipping in as well. STUDENT CLOTHING BRAND CELEBRATES SUCCESSFUL YEAR.

This time last year, two Cardiff students were piecing together their ideas to create a new lifestyle brand, and in May they will celebrate a year since the launch of Elsie & Arthur. Jack Williams, 22, and Allie Lawson, 21, both originally from North Devon, set up the brand after being awarded a launcher loan from School For Startups, founded by ex-Dragons’ Den investor Doug Richards.
