Matthew and the Atlas – London based Matthew Hegarty – announces his concert at The Globe as the opening date of his Spring Tour!

Hegarty filters his textured and dreamy take on Americana through a distinctly English folk sensibility, and, bringing his bruised and raw vocal to the fore, tells stories that sound like they’ve been handed down through the ages.

Having played and recorded with a full 5-piece band since early 2010 – in that time releasing two acclaimed EPs on Communion Records, touring the US twice and steadily building a growing fan-base in the UK and beyond – Hegarty is now stripping back his songs to their beautiful basics, touring with a minimalist set up to match.

“When it comes to capturing the hearts and minds of the USA, Matthew and the Atlas could well be joining Mumford and Sons … tunes that possess the dusty, muscular appeal of Springsteen at his most down-home.” Phil Alexander (Editor-in-chief, Mojo)

“The new hope” London Evening Standard

“Spellbinding” The Independent

As many critics, fans, and music industry folk will attest, Matthew & The Atlas is one of the most interesting, pleasurable, and admired music acts of the moment.
