Colleagues and Customers at Sainsbury’s in Pontypridd are really making a difference in the community. This Easter at the Ponty store colleagues and customers are donating Easter Eggs to local charity Valleys Kids;

“Giving a lifeline to individuals and families who are on the edge, struggling to survive.”

At the store you will see a collection “nest” to donate Easter Eggs to this very worthy charity. The charity is local to the store and they want to make a difference in these children’s lives. On the Charity’s website they say that:

“We believe that everyone should have the chance to make the journey from dependence to independence, despite poverty and urban degeneration which threatens the future of our children.

The work of Valleys Kids is centred in the heart of the Rhondda Valleys, once famous the world over for its coal, its poetry & song and its passion. The coal has gone, but the passion and poetry remain, alongside a vibrancy of community spirit, typical of these communities.

However, these Valleys now rank in some of the most deprived areas of Europe, suffering from high levels of multiple deprivation.
