Extra patrols are now taking place in the Fairwater Policing Sector to tackle burglaries.
The extra patrols will be a mix of high visibility and plain clothes, in vehicles and on foot.
Since June 14, there have been 20 burglaries in this area predominantly in Llandaf, Whitchurch and Radyr.
The majority of these burglaries have been overnight with seven of the 20 being business premises.
A 38-year-old man from Ely was arrested on June 27 within minutes of a burglary at a chip shop in Llandaff North. He has been charged with this offence and three other break-ins at two hairdressing salons and a restaurant.
He is currently on bail not to enter Radyr and Llandaff North until his court appearance on July 15.
Fairwater Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Paul Arkontopoulos said: “By having officers in the right places, at the right times, we hope to prevent further burglaries taking place and also arrest those found going equipped to break into homes, businesses, sheds and garages.
“We would ask residents to ensure doors and windows are locked, review the security of their outbuildings and also report any suspicious behaviour to 999.”
