Young cricketers receive awards.

A trio of young Welsh cricketers have been rewarded for outstanding batting, bowling, and wicketkeeping in the latest LV= Cricket Wales player of the month awards. Glamorgan player Aneurin Donald and assistant First XI coach Robert Croft, both products of the Wales development programme, made the presentations to players who have excelled in Wales teams. Sophie Thomas from Cardiff and the Vale received her August/September award for a 65 not-out batting performance for Wales U13 girls against Gloucestershire. Peter Hook was at the heart and soul of the iconic bands Joy Division and New Order. Hook showed at the summer 2014 Bristol Vegfest that he is more than capable of successfully reproducing the Midas music of his former acts. Cardiff win Welsh Cricket Cup.

Cardiff CC scored a 41-run victory over Pontarddulais CC in the final of the Cricket Wales Welsh Cup – one of four trophies in a week. Winning the toss at the Gnoll, Neath, Cardiff captain Adam Miles elected to bat first, and helped his team to a total of 212-4 in their 40 overs. Miles hit 89 off 104 balls, including six fours, before being bowled by Gary Arrowsmith. Fellow opener, Harry Bowles contributed 36 off 39 balls, while Greg Holmes hit 61 not out, off 62.
