Over-50s win national title

The South Wales Men’s over-50s team has won the National Inter County Tennis Championship. After winning all five of their league matches without the loss of a single rubber, the five-man team then beat Kent in the final, played at Brierley Hill David Lloyd. The team was: Alistair Alexander (from Cardiff, now based in Brighton), Simon Richards (from Dinas Powys, now based in London), Tim Hartland (Penarth Windsor TC), Steve Richards (Bridgend) and captain Mike Harpin (of Cowbridge TC and Ogmore by Sea). A major new training programme for professionals in the built environment sector has got underway, aiming to put Wales at the forefront of sustainability expertise. Built Environment Sustainability Training (BEST) is offering flexible, fully subsidised training to develop knowledge and skills in the latest sustainability practices – particularly in construction, energy, waste, and water. The annual reunion of ex-Penygraig and Treorchy Boys Club footballers of yesteryear is at Ton Pentre FC on Friday, December 5, 7pm.
