World of Words – WOW organised the visit of former Welsh international footballer John Emmanuel to Ton Pentre Junior School. John had a fine career at club level being primarily a stalwart of Bristol City FC among other clubs. The Rhondda star man aspired to represent his country and he brought in his Welsh caps and jerseys as well as the shirts of opponents. One of the tops was worn by the late England legend Alan Ball.
John is now a coach at Ton Pentre FC and his love of soccer is still evident. It is many thanks to John for offering his time to speak to years 3 and 4 children and we hope that he can return to speak to the older pupils.
