Today, the voluntary organisation Y Cwmni Siarad (YCS) has received a National Lottery grant of over £200,000 to develop its low-cost counselling service in South Wales. The project focuses on providing low-cost counselling to anyone over the age of 18.
Julie Dykes, Chair of YCS, said: “We’re delighted to have been awarded the grant funding from the Big Lottery Fund. Early access to talking therapies is crucial to supporting people’s mental health, but the costs of private counselling and long waiting lists often mean affordable, timely counselling is beyond the means of many people. With this funding we will be able to provide low-cost counselling to many more people across Cardiff, Bridgend and Rhondda Cynon Taff.”
